ASSEMBLED PAINTINGS

This past year I felt a physical pull to create paintings using wood. I use reclaimed wood as medium, sourced locally, and chosen for its surface and textural qualities.

Each color palette is built by cutting, painting and further distressing the wood. I assemble the paintings like a puzzle, making color and design decisions as I go, embracing the irregularity of the materials with unexpected shapes and form. Found materials from vintage advertising graphics and typography are often included, encouraging the viewer to get up-close and explore in more detail.
